About Me
Josephine Mansergh-Johnson is a clinician, educator, and researcher specializing in trauma, addiction, and the prevention of these struggles within families: particularly for high-achieving, internationally mobile families navigating these challenges across generations.
Josephine has been recognized for academic excellence, receiving the Slaymaker Scholar's Award at Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School for achieving the highest GPA and making significant institutional impact. This distinction led to her appointment as Adjunct Faculty, where she now instructs graduate-level courses in lifespan development and ethics in counseling in early 2026. She has been nationally recognized as a Subject Matter Expert by the American Counseling Association at the intersection of trauma, addiction, and working with children and families, and currently serves on the ACA's Editorial Board reviewing research based practice briefs that shape the field.
With ability to practice in New York, Connecticut, and the United Kingdom, Josephine brings a cross-cultural therapeutic perspective informed by both American and British training traditions. Her clinical work spans Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation's Family Services, where she pioneered the institution's first Child & Family Services internship and became employed after five years of volunteering from the UK, and Resilience Therapy in New York, where she maintains private practice specializing in children, adolescents, and families affected by trauma and substance use disorders.
Josephine's contributions to research include co-authoring a manuscript that is currently under review with a flagship journal.
Josie’s advocacy efforts include being awarded peer-reviewed presentations at national conferences, delivering invited lectures and she continues to provide research-based CEU and professional trainings to counselors, psychologists, counselor educators and addiction, school and mental health professionals across the country, translating complex research and developmental theory into accessible, practical frameworks for clinicians and families alike.
From East to West…
Josie is married to Clinton, CEO of Sundial Advisors. The couple met in London and married at the historic St Mary's Church, The Boltons. They share their lives with two mischievous Bedlington Terriers, Bilbo and Winnie.
Clinton and Josie have traveled extensively together in pursuit of their purpose, including extended seasons in the Middle East. In 2021, they fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to California, where Josie became more deeply involved in prevention work at Hazelden Betty Ford. In 2025, they relocated to the East Coast so Josie could pursue doctoral studies while Clinton explored new opportunities in New York.
When they're not working, you can find the four of them exploring upstate, Connecticut and Long Island, enjoying coffee, or running along the breezy Hudson River waterfront.
